Poll: 54 Percent of Americans Credit Trump With ISIS Raid

Fifty-four percent of Americans credit President Donald Trump with taking down ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Baghdadi was killed in a raid last Saturday in Syria. ISIS spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir was reportedly killed in a raid by U.S. special forces in northwest Syria a day later.

The poll also found:

• 44 percent think Trump is a strong leader, compared with 54 percent who don’t
• 54 percent say the policies of the Trump administration have made the United States less respected around the world today, compared with 28 percent who say they have made the U.S. more respected
• 44 percent think Trump’s withdrawal of U.S. forces will weaken the U.S.’ efforts against ISIS, compared with 12 percent who said the move would strengthen those efforts
• 51 percent say Trump ending a U.S. military alliance with the Syrian Kurds will hurt the U.S.’ reputation as a trusted ally

The Washington Post–ABC News poll surveyed 1,003 Americans from Oct. 27 to 30 and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
